Nurses Promoting Physical Activity for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Sarah Tiner, George Cunningham, and Alison Pittman published their research in the journal, Autism. They collected data from nurses, seeking to understand the barriers and opportunities for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder to be more physically active. In the first part of the study, they found that nurses were most likely to recommend physical activity when they identified many benefits and saw few barriers. In the second part of the study, the nurses identified the many benefits of being active and also offered strategies to make sport and physical activity more accessible for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
